Before measuring the area for artificial grass installation, it is crucial to look for any visible signs of underground hazards such as sprinkler lines, irrigation systems, or drainage pipes.
If there are existing sprinklers within the installation area, determine if they need to be covered at the pipe level or removed if not required. Mark their locations to avoid damaging them during the turf installation process.
Also, consider the placement of drainage pipes and ensure electrical wires are positioned safely away from the perimeter.
Once the pre-installation prep and underground hazard check are complete, measure the length and width of the intended turf area, accounting for any necessary cuts or irregular shapes. Accurate measurements will aid in determining the required number of rolls, joining tape, and glue for the project.
● Start by removing any existing vegetation, rocks, or debris from the area where you plan to install the artificial grass. Use a shovel, rake, or sod cutter if necessary.
● Then, excavate the top layer of soil, typically around 3-4 inches(7.5-10 centimeters) deep, to create space for the installation of the new base.
